Or should I say, the hustle was all in the weekend. While most Americans were off and out enjoying the warm weather, I was working. It’s okay; holiday pay is always nice, and I’m more happy in the AC then I am in the heat. Our temperatures here in Virginia went from damp, cold, and never-ending rain …. to hot, humid, and ack! Welcome to summer in the Shenandoah Valley.
But I truly love living here. There are so many things to see and do. We are a day or less drive from some pretty cool places (Washington DC, NYC, Virginia Beach.) But one of my favorite places is my own back yard, and the beautiful walking trail that it backs up to.
Our blackberry bushes are full of blooms! I can’t wait to pick berries and make some jam, or just eat them right out of the basket. Our garden is coming along nicely as well. Everything we planted has begun to sprout! I’m looking forward to fresh cantaloupe and snapping beans right off the vine.
Even though it’s hot today, Z and I decided to take a nice walk on the nature path. Charlie was happy to be out and sniffing, as well as barking at squirrels.
We saw birds and squirrels. In the small stream, Z spied some little fish and two ducks taking a bath in the shade. She truly enjoys exploring and it’s good for us – all of us – to get out of the house and get moving.
What did you accomplish on your Memorial Day weekend? Did you start a new project, or just take it easy?
