FO Friday : Shawl Edition

I absolutely love knitting shawls.  The complexity of the pattern, the charts, the lace … it all stirs my creative spirit.  The funny thing is, I don’t usually wear them.  I love to knit them for other people.  Sometimes though, I’ll make one for myself.  If the yarn is right, and the pattern is calling me name ….. you get the idea.

I love to find fun handdyed yarns on Etsy.  It’s one of the reasons that I started dyeing and selling yarn myself on that site.  One of my current favorites is CrochetTheWinter.  I’ve blogged about her colors before.  She has bright, fun yarn that I just want to buy one of everything.  I did purchase a skein a few months, to make something for myself.

Lovely Lace
  • Project name : Baktus
  • Pattern : “Lacy Baktus” by Tehri Montonen
  • Yarn : CrochetTheWinter Sparkle Sock in ‘Magics in the Makeup’

This was SO MUCH FUN to knit!  I love the speckled colors and the random sparkles of the yarn.  I think that it turned out fantastic!  I promise that I will be keeping this one for myself.

The second shawl that I finished is one that I knitted for a dear friend.  M is getting married in September, and I wanted to make her wedding shawl for her.  I think that the color and the pattern worked really well together.  I know that she is going to love it.

Wedded Bliss
  • Project : Happily Ever After
  • Pattern : “Ashton Shawlette” by Dee O’Keefe
  • Yarn : Shalimar Yarns Breathless in ‘Sonoma’

I’m posting it now because, well, I’m really pleased with it.  It’s not a surprise; I told M last year that I wanted to knit this for her.  I just hope that she will love it as much as I do!

What projects have you finished this week, dear readers?  Feel free to comment and link!
